Guided by Light: Crafting a Poetic Dwelling of Nature, Art, and Freedom

The owners envisioned a home that breathes with nature, bathes in sunlight, and resonates with art—a space of true freedom. In designing the ideal residence, we recognized that no concept rivals the perfection of nature. The more we leave room for authenticity, the more beauty enters daily life. That’s why we built with light.
Light shapes the space and enriches the atmosphere. Under a broad skylight, the staircase—clean and fishbone-shaped—connects both floors. Light filters through its openings, casting soft rhythms on walls and floors. As the first sight upon entry, it anchors the view, framed by a geometric base feature and a textured painting that balance simplicity with visual tension.
Tucked into a quiet corner, the ground-floor living area feels like a hidden retreat. Sunlight lingers here, tracing delicate lines through the blinds. A circular column—once square—curves gently toward an arched ceiling, adding softness and play. A red lounge chair by the window brings a touch of warmth, inviting moments of reading, rest, and connection amid serene whites and river views.
BDSD Boundless Design preserved nearly all original windows, allowing light and shadow to flow freely. A new grid-like wall of square windows adds breathability, while the skylight above brightens the interiors—drawing the sky closer and life into sharper focus.
Upstairs, the study is dedicated largely to windows. A diamond-paned one captures shifting light, defining the room’s spirit. This is the owner’s favorite place—where the late afternoon sun meets the desk, and the home settles into a state of calm productivity and ease.
